This week is the Augusta National Women's Amateur, an event that Augusta member Condoleeza Rice had a hand in making happen for the first time in 2019 (it was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID).

Stanford will be well-represented with five current and future players among the field of 82:
- Sadie Engleman (freshman)
- Megha Ganne (HS junior, committed)
- Rachel Heck (freshman)
- Lei Ye (sophomore)
- Rose Zhang (HS senior, committed). Current US Women's Amateur champion and #1 ranked amateur in the world

Wednesday & Thursday they will play at the nearby Champions Retreat GC. Field will be cut to 30 (with a playoff for ties). The final 30 will play Augusta on Saturday, and all players will get a practice round at Augusta on Friday.

I think Maggert's is the only one on 13.  Despite the double eagle, he finished last in the tournament among those who made the cut.

Ye finished at +6, currently on the number (in the final 30). Based on who's left on the course, I don't see where anyone else is going to get to that number and force an 11 person playoff for 10 spots.

Rose Zhang started the final round tied for the lead but a horrible triple bogey on 13 (which is a birdie hole) was her undoing. Even just a bogey and she wins.

Nonetheless she and freshman Rachel Heck tied for 3rd. Heck rallied on the back nine to move up the leaderboard. Lei Ye played much better today and was able to climb into 15th after making the cut by only one stroke.

All in all a great showing for Stanford women's golf. This team should be one of the favorites to win a natty.
