Inbounding the ball at the end of the game has been our Achilles Heel.  I can't believe that Brink didn't get fouled on that play.  I'll have to look back at the video.

If Missy had been the ref, no doubt she would have reviewed it to see if Brink should have been called for a intentional foul, as she had the ball wrapped up in her two arms & chest.

But seriously, this was a game where Stanford could have been called for a number of fouls that didn't get called.  That push on the back by Brink near the end of the game was a bad freshman mistake.  She's attempting to get a foul called, apparently not realizing they were in the bonus, but that could have been called an intentional.   When they reviewed that 3pt shot with 39 seconds on the clock, that was close to a flagrant foul by Brink that was quite obvious from two angles.

Once again the refs help decide the game by NOT calling fouls.  This time, Stanford gained the advantage by that.

Ashten had a very good game, 9pts, 8reb, 2 blocks, 1 steal in 24 min.
Lexie had a great game, 18 pts, 13 reb, 4 assists, 2 steals.   Great defense on the next to last shot, not allowing a clear path and not allowing a ref to call a foul.
Haley had a great game, 24 pts, 11 of 14 shooting, 1 steal.  Nothing as important as the last 2 pts.

Then Haley traveled in the backcourt completely unforced. Lexie went behind her back and lost control of the ball for another TO. And finally Cameron lost the ball when all she had to do was hold onto it because Stanford had the possession arrow.

Still they persisted. Survive and advance.

Looking at the last play again, it easily could have been a reach-in foul on Boston, though it is hard for me to see clearly from that camera angle.  It was a reasonable no-call.

Some other things about that last play.  Give Lexie some credit for getting back on defense and challenging Beale's shot.  It would have been an easy lay-up otherwise.

Also, looking at it again, it is a game of inches.  Boston was so close to being the hero of the game.  Gotta feel for her.

South Carolina is going to be very good next year with Boston, Henderson, Amihere, Cook, and Beale.  I think they bring back pretty much everyone.

I'm watching the video of the game and when we were up by 5 with 1:18 to play, SC shot a 3 and missed.  Prechtel had good position on Boston, but Boston pushed Prechtel forward and got the rebound.  That led to their little guard getting a bucket and one to bring the game to within 2.  Good refs would have called that foul on Boston, which would have been her 5th.

The fouls were pretty evenly called, both the good and the bad.

Yes, I thought the same thing. They will be back. As will the Cardinal and the Huskies. Probably a reasonable prediction that 3 of the 4 Final Four teams this year will repeat next year.

This was such a great game. Two great teams giving it their all, right down to the last second. Lots of respect to South Carolina.

No complaints about the refs. They called it pretty tight for the most part and I wouldn't have wanted to see a lot more calls. I don't think the missed or arguable calls hurt either side more than the other.

I wonder if nerves have gotten to Ki.  She was not smiling and being her happy self tonight.  Haley, on the other hand, always had a smile on her face.  We're lucky to have squeezed out this win tonight, given that Ki didn't play particularly well.

In the finals, I think our bigs (Brink, Prechtel, and Jones) will make the difference.  Prechtel and Jones have found their groove.  Brink is just solid.  If our guards can hold their guards to pedestrian numbers, I think we can win it all.

Williams is just streaky.  I remember she went through a bit of a slump earlier this year and pulled out of it.  Hoping she does so again on Sunday.

The big advantage we have is that we have enough weapons where if one player is misfiring, another can step in for her.

Not saying it was the wrong move, but man, we really could have created some separation in that second quarter if we had her on the court.
- More defense and rebounding awesomeness from Lexie. She leaves everything out there. I was frustrated with her reluctance to kick the ball though. She's not a great finisher and multiple times we had people wide open that she didn't pass too. The last play where Haley got the O-board and scored, Kiana was very open on the 3 point line. It worked out, but I have to think the better play would have been to kick it. 
- Not a great game from Ki. She just looked tight again, like she's feeling the pressure. A couple defensive possessions it looked like she was just out of gas giving up easy looks. Maybe a short rest would have helped her?
- Anna got destroyed tonight and she was so timid offensively. A few times she was wide as Clyde and didn't pull the trigger, even though she's been shooting lights out recently. All I could think of to explain the lapse was that the TV never showed Russ. Maybe her family had to take off or something. She seems to play more aggressively when he's there. She was just off. 
- Our bigs held their own and then some. Glad Brink was able to play a lot of minutes. We are better with her in the game, especially against a team like this. Prechtel - more awesomeness all around!
