We will see how much practice the UCBers get this week.   This type of lost week has been really disruptive for teams in other sports.   All of the Bears with COVID are all on schedule to play on Nov 20th.  If UCB had a normal bye week they would be in a good position, but this past week was not a normal bye.
 
If McKee plays I am hopeful.   I suspect the UCB fans will be optimistic, but even with the promising October this season has been a disappointment for UCB fans too.    In my 30+ years watching Big Game Cal has been favored to win a lot more often then they have actually won.  I would be very happy to add 2021 to that tally.

In part because Shaw keeps yanking him out to run the wildcat or some other Sanders special.  That Sanders made 12 yards on that one run will fuel Shaw for seasons to come, now that he knows if works (once every two dozen tries).

No worries.  Shaw is the winningest coach in Stanford history.  Somehow the apologists feel like this overcomes lazy recruiting, sloppy OL line play, (personally I think the OL must improve before they are even sloppy) and little evidence we can tackle anyone in the open field. 

On a happy note, I'll always have great memories of my last Rose Bowl visit when we spanked the Hawkeyes.  What makes me sad is there is nothing to look forward to with Shaw.  Lots of memories, just no future.

I hear you, and I have often complained on this board about the "Negative Nellies" who never seem to find anything good to say about Stanford football. It's just after the last few games (particularly the last two) you have to dig pretty deep to find anything positive to say.

I didn't get a chance to watch the second half due to the 9-hour time difference and, clearly, I did not miss much.  In the first half, Stanford had its chances; and Oregon State appeared willing to keep us in the game with holding penalties and sketchy kicks.  But we were simply unable to capitalize.  

In retrospect, the most frustrating point of the first half was the decision to try the monster 55-yard FG, which was subsequently blocked.  Up until that point, we had been offensively challenged, to say the least.  OSU was dominating TOP and had roughly double our TOP, but they were only 7 points up.  We were at the OSU 37-yard line with a 4th and 5.  Three minutes and 45 seconds remained in the half.  Yes, 4th and 5 is not a high percentage play; but after Nolan's botched pooch punt, Ari and the offense had marched down the field from the Stanford 20 in 7 plays, including some nice strikes from Patu to Wilson.  We had something akin to offensive momentum.  Why not take a chance?  In fact, what did we really have to lose?  Make the game exciting, take a risk, go for it, mix it up and get that tying score before the half.  Failure would have been no worse than a blocked or missed kick.  As it was, OSU got the ball at our 37 and marched down the field to score their 2nd TD to go up 14-0, and our overworked defense got to spend another 3:45 on the field.  I checked out after that, as the clock struck 01:00 AM over here. Disappointing.

You don’t actually have to read all the posts from the nattering nabobs of negativism of they upset you.  Everyone has a right to post, good, bad, or ugly; but not everyone has to be read if you find their posts tendentious.  And that goes the other way too; for the people who find the Shawpologists too polyanna, you don’t have to read us.

Evidently, that's not the case. Some people don't have the "right" to post, good, bad or ugly. As I'm now apparently unbanned and can post, I'm still curious why I was banned in the first place and was provided no explanation. I even reached out privately to an admin for an explanation, and disappointingly, he didn't give me the courtesy of a reply. What a bummer from a Stanford guy. . . .
