I hope Riley gets out of Norman safely. I mean, you lose Bedlam and the next day bolt for another job. There might be some sore Sooners.

Lincoln Riley to USC

Quote:Wide receiver Brandon Inniss, the No. 29 prospect in the 2023 class according to ESPN, tweeted his decision following "a long talk with my family." He had been committed to Oklahoma since Aug. 23.
...
Also decommitting was ESPN Jr. 300 running back Treyaun Webb, the No. 152 prospect in the 2023 class. Webb is a 6-foot, 190-pound back from Jacksonville, Florida, who originally committed to Oklahoma over Georgia and Ohio State in July.

I feel like some bitter Oklahoma fan might be comparing Riley to David Shaw, given that both took over for coaches who "really" built the programs into a championship contenders (but then I really doubt such a fan would know who David Shaw is..).
Lincoln Riley is a home run hire for the media and fans, but I do think that given his youth, ambition and *perhaps* prickly personality this could all blow up (in a bad way) for SC.
It is at the very least interesting, so kudos to them for that, I guess.

Riley is bringing Alex Grinch with him as defensive coordinator. Stanford fans will remember Grinch as the DC at WSU from 2015 to 2017. His defenses were very active and gave Stanford fits.

Let's just hope they won't have the discipline to play it.

Oklahoma's defense hasn't been all that great this year at 5.63 yds/play.
If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

I remember 20 years ago we wanted to be as good as USC. As terrible as they are, we are still trying. :(

We beat them this year. Just sayin'.

Just saw that UCLA picked up Spencer Rattler. Interesting twist. Riley benches Rattler mid-season in favor of Caleb Williams; Riley leaves for USC; Rattler enters the portal and goes to Riley's LA rival to play against his former coach.
