So yesterday, I'm texting a friend about the Niners game in the 4th quarter and ask how he's doing. He says he's about the have a stroke! LOL

After the game we talked. He told me he has a Fitbit and looked at the data during the game and his heart rate was insane. Then I said, wouldn't it be funny if that data got sent to a 911 number, and they used the data and GPS to send an ambulance to you. You hear a siren outside and wonder about it. Then it pulls up on your street and you wonder where it's going. Then the EMTs get out and walk to your door, saying "we understand someone is having a cardiac event." HAHAHA!

It all made me wonder if Fitbit tracked your favorite teams, how cool it would be to see the aggregate heart data for fans by team, and then see which fan bases are the calmest and which ones are the most "cardiacally" up and down for given games.

Has anyone ever heard of Fitbit or Apple Watch tracking the teams people root for to collect this kind of data?

I went to the Apple store recently to try the Apple Watch 7's capability to measure blood oxygen level.  I tried it, but it said "This is not a measurement".   I was told that because the watch would remember the measurement (of heart rate, SPO2, ...) and that such measurements are HIPAA protected, that Apple decided that in demo mode they would not take an actual measurement.

I suppose that people could opt in for having their vital signs sent to some aggregator, but I'm not sure what company wants to take on the risk of collecting such HIPAA protected data.

Be careful what you wish for... Imagine the pressure on the CDC to shutdown certain sporting events because of an unacceptable number of excess deaths due to it.
