For obvious reasons, people focus on easy-to-count stats.
I look at Haley's failure to guard her player, leading to easy shots by a wide-open player. I think Haley wants to play being the hero, so you see the things she does, not what she doesn't do. For every time she comes out of the blue to do something great on defense, there's more than one wide-open shot by an opponent. She can slash but has no 3-pt shot (even Cam has a better 3pt%) I'd vote for her for a Most Athletic Player award, but not POY.
As for Cameron, some more games like the last two, and she won't even be playing half the game (currently 21.2 min/game). IMO, she shouldn't be POY if she doesn't play half the game. When she's in the game, she's great. I'd ding her for her FT% as well. It would be interesting if someone nominated her for the 6th player award. She does have the 6th most minutes on the team. That might be what she SHOULD win.
I would vote Lexie over the previous two. She's played essentially 50% more minutes than Cameron, has more points than Haley. (Besides, she's done what it takes to stay healthy - she & her sister are the only ones that have played every game.) If there were an award for Dependable Player of the Year, she should win it easily. Too bad Prudential doesn't sponsor a Gibraltar award.
