Once a fan, always a fan?
Garvin and I sat together at the Final Four and I assure you, his fandom is not diminished. I won't speak for him, but I think it's unlikely he will be back to regular posting. Part of the fun for him was making provocative statements and ribbing the "soulless Communists" on the board. He and I often disagree on political and other issues and can personally tease each other without it turning into an escalating death match. We both agreed that similar discussions are not possible on a message board anymore, even on a special place like the Cardboard. (We also agreed that it is the fault of the times and the heightened political attitude of nearly everyone.) Garvin is on Facebook if anyone wants to reach out to him there. Or, better yet, look him up at a Final Four or bowl game and meet up with us over drinks. Even soulless Communists are welcome if they are willing to buy a round and can endure discussions about the unequaled beauty of Dana Delaney!
Cheers,
Pete F.
Dana Delaney! Thanks for the smile. Between her and rants about redrum (who championed Uma Thurman, iirc) - and specifically his prowess (okay, lack thereof) on the football field in matches against the Daily Californian - well . . . good times those.
P.S. Good to hear that garvin still rallying for post-season events. Was Sue there, too? And good for you for making the FF roadie. Would really have liked to see the Stanford women play one more game.
