I was wrong. The Celtics DID in fact employ a "no way are we letting Curry beat us" strategy in Game 5, rather than the "let him get his and make sure the other guys don't beat us" one instead.

Simply put, it doesn't matter what approach the Celtics take as long as the Warriors bring their best defensive effort. Given how ingrained defense is into the Warrior's team culture, I don't see it relenting in Game 6.

I don’t get caught up in all-time rankings, GOAT and stuff like that.  Tend to think it’s kind of silly.  You can’t compare eras. Also in hoops you have old fashioned centers who are in a different category.  You can’t truly compare, for example, Jordan and Kareem. But I did find this to be interesting: 7 players have won 4 Championships and 2 MVP’s- James, Duncan, Kareem, Magic, Jordan, Russell and now Curry. 6 of the 7 won Finals MVP at least once. Only Russell did not.  But that’s because they didn’t have the award that now bears his name until his last Finals.  

And no one I’ve ever seen is more fun to watch than Curry.

No one said it, but for Curry, Klay and Draymond, I think this meant “more” cause they did it without Durant. This was not a manufactured “Super-Team”. This was an old fashioned organizational win, led by the three that have been there throughout.

Finally, Curry’s emotional reaction was, I think, part joy, part exhaustion. Reminded me of Busters hug of MadBum in 2014. Which certainly was part exhaustion.

How lucky we’ve been this last decade plus to have these franchises obtain the success they have, both led by tremendous players, leaders, teammates and from everything I’ve read and heard, even better people. Steph and Buster. What a show.

True, but it was also seven years ago.  To come back and do it again with extra age made an additional statement.  And how much they brought the young guys into it too.  How many commentators are saying "look how much Looney/Wiggins/Pooler/GP2 improved this season!"?  I don't think that's by accident that every second-level player suddenly had the best season and playoffs of their lives.  They found a way to get the most out of their core but then also wonderfully integrate the young guys into things when the opponent found a way to focus on the core three (four if we count Igudoula).

I don't think anyone is trying to claim Wiggins was a bad player by any means before the Warriors.  But this year he made his first All Star team and was in the running for Finals MVP.  I think it's safe to say that blows away the previous seasons.  Now, is a lot of that due to being on a team that was already close to a title contender without him, as opposed to the perennial sub-mediocrity of the T-Wolves?  Of course, it would be crazy to pretend otherwise.  But still, this season has lifted his stature a lot, as it has for a lot of the other younger players, and that is one of the things that made it so enjoyable.

Lacob comes off as kind of a jerk.  But he’s a great owner. Hires  good people and writes massive checks.  Warriors are way over the cap. Big luxury tax bill. Need to sign Poole and Wiggins to extensions. And despite having to pay a steep tax, are likely to do so.

Well Crimson, kids are few deep in the Coast Range forest. 35 years ago we sent our sons out on Halloween and our neighbors reported that they were the first ever seen in costume on the Ridge.

We have three lawns. Mucho gophers, deer (including two of the smallest fawns I’ve seen), bobcat, a very tame fox and now a bear terrorizing Inverness Ridge. I’m thinking of putting up big pictures of Mrs. Lacob and Mrs. Guber to scare off the bear.

I think the difference for Wiggins was superior coaching, followed by HoF teammates who similarly took that coaching to heart, both on offense and defense.

Wiggins' career experience prior to the Warriors was a little bit like Alex Smith's QB experience with the Niners.  I recall reading that Smith had a new OCoordinator every year for nine years in a row.  I think Wiggins had a new coach every year for the first 4-5 years of his career.  He left the poor/inconsistent coaching in the past, and Kerr has done a superb job.

Speaking of which...poor sportsmanship isn't the sole province of players and wives of owners.  Mark Jackson seems to throw shade on the Warriors -- the team he used to coach -- when he gets the chance.  Yes, I know he has complimented Coach Kerr, who won 4 NBA championships in 8 years.  Jackson was a decent coach who couldn't get the Warriors over the top.  His first team was 23-43, but the next two went 47-35 and 51-31, losing in the semis and first round.  At which point he was replaced by Kerr.  

At any rate, when Curry won the Championship Series MVP, his former Coach Jackson sniffed that he did it with a lot of help from the Boston Celtics defense.  You know, the top-ranked regular season defense in the NBA...
