As far as I know I am the biggest Mike Wilson fan on any of the major message boards. I would give him a fair shot at making a top 25 list of Stanford WRs. Top 20 starts to make me blush. Top 10 should get one laughed out of the room.

I really can't rank Mike Wilson in a hierarchy of Stanford receivers because he simply didn't play enough to allow a fair evaluation. He obviously had lots of "potential", but so did a lot of other guys who never "lived up" to their potential. Wilson didn't get the chance to deliver through no fault of his own. His "ranking" is now and forever TBD IMHO.

I guess it depends on how far back you go, but it is not unreasonable.

Wilson will end his career (unless he comes back for a sixth year) with 1662 yards, which is about 100 yards behind #22 Brad Muster and Vincent White (ironically, not WRs).  11 career TDS is not a lot by WR standards (JJ Arcega Whiteside had 14 in a single season).

As others have noted, it is hard to know where he would have gone had he not gotten injured.  I think he easily would have been in the top-20 had he stayed healthy his full career.  Your “top 25” is not unreasonable, but it depends how much you weigh his contributions when healthy versus taking a “you are what your stats say you are”.

I think with Mike you kind of have to take a you are what your stats say you are kind of position. He caught passes from an NFL starting QB, NFL practice squad QB, and TBD NFL prospect. He played in 39 games at Stanford. He had over 1500 snaps. People are acting like his career got cut short, but he was only at Stanford so long because of the injuries. It was a stop and start career due to the injuries, but he played a ton. 1556 snaps compares to 661 for Simi Fehoko, 965 for Connor Wedington, 1466 for JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and 1623 for Trent Irwin. Wilson got a full career in. I don’t think one can say his stats underrate him. I love him and think the furthest I can go is they properly rate him.
