Put differently, there is no disincentive to be in the portal if you've got your degree. The worst that can happen is that you hear about your other options, and the NIL collective ponies up more money to entice you to stay here.
I'm not exactly clear on how the portal works, but I assume that at other schools, the disincentive is that you risk losing your spot. Another inbound transfer might take it. This is clearly not a risk to any football student-athlete at Stanford in 2023.
