WBB: Other Teams 22-23 season

Boneyard folks freaking out before the game. Guess wasn’t necessary as I have to say that team could be down to five bodies and still win.

The two teams were combined 5 of 40 from three. Must have been A heavy fog in the arena :)
It is always the curse of three point shooting. Even very good three point shooting teams can go cold for no apparent reason. Misses seem to be psychologically contagious. A team like Creighton cannot win any games, let alone knock off UConn, going 3-29 from three point range. UConn defense had something to do with it, but we held them to 9/31 and thought that was pretty good.

Also the UConn heavy WBB Olympic teams must recently at the expense of Stanford. Many suggest Geno had influence.

I do not hate Geno. I save my loathing for serious offenders of the rules of human dignity. Still, some people just don’t pass through my s**t screen, and Geno is one of those people. I really don’t need to have a reason either. It’s just part of the larger game I play as a fan.

Thanks! Great food for thought. Pat (and even more so, Tennessee fans) have never been my favorite, and Pat's claims never seemed substantiated, so I guess that didn't weigh very heavily for me. (Plus it seemed extremely insulting to Maya Moore's intelligence, and she's always been among my favorite WBB players.)
I'll grant running up the score as being somewhat petty, but other programs seem to do that too. I notch that more as a credit to Tara always, always taking the high road, than a knock in Geno, per se.
And you guys may not believe this, but UConn fans think ESPN has engaged in a multi-decade conspiracy to undermine, discredit, and ignore their program. I've rarely found a more "in the eyes of the beholder" issue than this one, because IMHO, UConn has gotten favorable coverage forever, but nothing I say will ever convince UConn fans otherwise.
I guess my topline takeaway is, as a Stanford alum who was stuck in Connecticut for nearly half a decade, I've been grateful to get to watch and root for two of the very best programs the sport has produced. And I will always root for Tara and Stanford above all others. =)

tennessee reported uconn to the ncaa for taking maya moore on a hosted tour of espn during her recruiting visit. this was indeed substantiated, and the ncaa deemed it a "secondary recruiting violation."
geno liked to call tennessee the "evil empire."
he doesn't do these sorts of things as much in recent years. i like his current sense of humor; he was more aggressive with it 20 years ago.
i have noticed that the very active uconn boneyard board is generally very respectful to stanford, while our board is mixed to negative towards uconn. wouldn't the most obvious reason be envy? - though consistently packing the olympic team with uconn players certainly doesn't help.

I don't "hate" UConn, but I did see them as the team that just vacuumed up all the top recruits so of course they dominated. But now there are a few other teams that are more in the hunt, esp. S Carolina. I agree re the Olympic team issues, but note how many WNBA stars have come from U Conn, far more than from any other college. That says a lot about the quality of players who have been at U Conn over the years. I think it's pretty natural to have a bit of negative feeling about another team that is so dominant, and perhaps envy is a part of that. But here's another perspective that I find myself wondering about. How do the 11 Pac 12 teams that are not Stanford feel about Stanford? Do they see us the same way we see U Conn? Or does Tara's supportive relationship to so many of the Pac-12 coaches mitigate that?

Tara has too. She was much more intense when she was younger. She jokes publicly with her players in way she never would have before.
