It really doesn't matter if Muir could have hired someone better. The deal is that TT is just not working out.
When a popular coach leaves or gets fired the roster normally gets decimated thanks to the portal.
Therefore firing a popular coach going through a tough patch would be a tough call.
I suspect TT is not popular enough for Muir to worry about portal attrition.
If Muir expects to keep his job he needs to try again. It is quite likely a new coach would also have an awful 2025, but at least a new coach would have a fighting chance recruiting current HS players.
Here for the rest of 2024 Stanford will be big underdogs to the remaining opponents, and the final scores of the next three games are likely to be brutal.
