Mets trade: Considering Rogers is a rental, the Giants did very well in that trade.  I think Tidwell could be quite an acquisition and Gilbert is a Yaz-like player with several years of SF control. 

Yankees trade: Vreiling and Harber are roll the dice acquisitions.  They are both rather old for the level they  are currently playing.  Rodriguez might see some action in SF in September.  He would be a nice #2 behind the plate if he can play solid D.

Royals trade:  Given Yaz is a rental, any return can be considered a plus.  Who knows, maybe Marte might surprise everyone.

I think Posey did as well as one could expect given the assets he was dealing.

Giants now 7th in MLB in most errors, 24th in Rtot. Losing Yaz didn't help. Watching a ball come to either Ramos or Devers is an unwelcome adventure. I still don't know how the SDP HR over Ramos' glove got overturned yesterday. Kuiper was sure surprised.

He's 4-1, 1.50 ERA, best of any pitcher with at least 4 IP. Pretty cool.

It was the correct call.  The ball does not have to be touched by a fan to be considered interference.  I think that is why Kuip was surprised.  In fact, if a fan reaches over the fence and blocks a players vision while the player is trying to make a play, it is considered interference.  In essence that is what happened.  The replay clearly shows the fan reaching over the fence with his arm above Ramos’ glove.  After the game, Ramos said he lost sight of the ball when guy reached for the ball.  Nice work by the replay crew….

No.  Bailey is tremendously defensively.  He has shown (first half of ‘24) that he can be a solid hitting catcher.  I’d give him one more year before thinking of making any big move.  Hopefully Jesus Rodriguez can be a decent defensive catcher and provide a RH option.  Bailey is a better hitter left handed. 

Giants have bigger off-season issues.  Beginning with starting pitching.

Yaz's case is a stark reminder. Here's his lines this season with two different teams:

It is extraordinary how much better Yaz is playing for Kansas City. He's hit almost as many HRs in KC (7) in 78 ABs as he did at SF (8) in 321 ABs.

I saw those numbers when I was looking for data that breaks down his time in SF and his time in KC.  Those figures do not detail his splits for each team.  They are simply a composite.

Also, the same applies to his adjusted stats.  I could not find any site (including Baseball Savant) that separates the numbers into two buckets - SF and KC.
