As far as I can tell, none of last year's top 6 are transferring. We'll have to wait to see if they all enroll at Stanford for fall quarter and if any of them go for LPGA qualifying which begins at the end of September.

The PGA Tour uses 72 hole stroke play to determine a tournament's champion, and the NCAA uses 12 rounds (best four scores of five players for each round times three rounds per player) to determine its final final eight teams.
Yet the team that wins three 18 hole matches of the five total matches wins the NCAA championship.

No, but are championships really trying to identify the best team in the country? If that were the case there should probably be no playoffs at all, just a regular season tally to have the largest sample size possible. Playoffs exist for excitement.
That said, I see your point and think I agree. The sample size is too small and adds too much randomness. Maybe cut it to four teams and make the matches 36 holes each?

Agreed and it really helped getting the coverage and interest. You can shoot the low round and lose the match, different game. Even starting with the coaches having to decide who plays in what order versus what the other team might do and even on the course do you try and make a tough shot that might win the hole or lay up and play to probably tie. Match play is far more interesting, particularly when you really care about the men and ladies wearing Cardinal and White.

Yes, the NCAA format is far more telegenic. A pure stroke play event would make dull tv, save the rare year where the top two teams are neck and neck.)

I haven't looked back but would we have more or fewer ncaa titles with the old format? I think a couple of the women's titles and definitely the men's title came as non number 1 seeds but how many times were we the one seed and not win?

In this system you are in it until you aren't. If you win the last match you play another, stroke count plays no role

She is a two-time Second Team All-America selection through WGCA.
It's absolutely insane what she's done in her career - and while she might not be as flashy as some others - the fact that she's fourth in program history in scoring average given some of the legends who have come through is remarkable.
