I'm expecting a valiant fight. An admirable effort.
But just outmatched in the end: 35 - 16.
Beating the spread! (which I think is 24.5 now)
As always, my disclaimer of hoping that I'm wrong and our guys pull off the hu.ge upset.

I'd feel a lot better about this game except for the injured Stanford players sitting out.

I agree with fullmetal. Stanford actually had a winning record (4-2) at home last year, which is atypical since the "big suck" began in 2019. But I think the on-field talent disparity between Miami and Stanford will far outweigh travel/time zone and other extraneous factors that might favor us. I think it's reasonably close at halftime and then Miami pulls away in the second half to win big. I will consider it a moral victory if we don't suffer any new major injuries.
If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

They thumped us 42-7 last year, which covers the spread now of 24-ish.
New QB transfer and redshirt junior Darian Mensah (from ACC Champ Duke) is a nightmare -- fluid,
with very quick decisions and a raft of targets now with Canes. Forcing a punt will be a big challenge.
Mensah will dish the ball all over and mix in some run. Toney is a playmaker.
Basically, we have to keep the ball. Three and outs are death.
Running on bigger, quicker MIAM will be more difficult, so a lot will fall to QB Warren.
And, "More Cowbell" (throw to our Big TEs). MIAM might have one of the best Secondaries in the country.
Seeing the tape, Canes will run hurry up to exhaust our Defense.

Barring 3 or 4 turnovers by MIAM, I see the Canes covering the points, sadly.
To make position in the seedings to get to #4 or better, MIAM will want to run up the score, above 60.
MIAM only has NDAM as a ranked foe on their schedule (they don't see SMU til ACC Champ game), so they must run up the points.
They want Mensah in the Top Ten for QB performance, so they will leave him in.

Looking for a game where we hold our own and stay committed throughout.
Not hopeful on the score due to injury front - the OL (all 5 projected starters?!) as well as Kaminsky and Cooper too tough to overcome.
If the probables, questionables, and doubtfuls are cleared we have a fighting chance to keep it close, and if so, good things can happen past midnight EST.

I'll be there tonight. I think I'd rather see the 1942 Germans on the other side though. I'm pretty sure the Hurricanes are bigger and faster. (Let alone Miami's D-Line vs Yamamoto's pilots.)
