For those worrying about the size of this year's class

maybe I'm misinformed, but isn't it just an issue of how many scholarships we have available? we couldn't have a 20+ recruiting class this year even if we wanted it, no? I feel fine about this recruiting class. I don't recall which site it was on, but at some point recently I was looking at class rankings and we were at the bottom of the Pac 12. But when you rearrange it for average rating of recruit, rather than overall points, we jump up to second, right behind USC and above Oregon. If we've only got 10-15 spots, and we fill them with excellent players, what is there to worry about?

That's correct. However, a handful or so posters have been complaining about not hearing about recruits as they did last year. Our class is nearly full.

This article should put anxiety about recruiting to rest: http://247sports.com/Article/Stanford-ha...way-106516
The gist is Stanford's attrition rate isn't nearly as high as other programs, due to rigorous entrance requirements. Thus, Stanford will sign fewer players over time than its Top 10 peers. Since recruiting classes are largely judged by the number of signings, Stanford football recruiting classes are rarely going to be consistently as high as other Top 10 programs.Â
When Stanford goes through a four year cycle of hitting on a high percentage of its signings (most guys can play and there are few guys who don't develop or have medical retirements), the class size in year five isn't going to be very big.
