Some folks might not know/recall that Nick Robinson was not the only Cardinal to hit a miracle buzzer-beating shot in 2004. Given this weekend's men's game at WSU, now might be a good time to (re)introduce Matt Lottich's heave as time expired to beat WSU. Like the UA game, a series of events led to Mr. Lottich's heroics. In some ways, this win was even more improbable than the win over the Wildcats, as Stanford was down by 5 points with under 30 seconds to go.
And as a side note, unlike the UA game, I was not able to watch the Stanford-WSU game on my local cable. So I phoned a buddy in the Bay Area who gave me the play-by-play. I was running around the apartment, screaming after Lottich's shot, which caused many concerned looks (not the first time, nor the last) from my wife.
Trust me, this will be a worthwhile 10 minutes of your day!

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
