Of the first group mentioned, most are obvious as to why. Irwin because he is good, Annan because of depth issues, Meeks a combination of both (particularly if Lyons bolts), and Tyler probably because it doesn't take as much learning of a system to return punts.

I'm a little surprised we didn't see Bailey mentioned as a player who could play early. The roster is pretty bare of kickers - Ukropina listed as P/K and Alex Robinson listed as P.

While I wouldn't be completely surprised if Scarlett played during his frosh year, I would be a little surprised if he played much given our current roster at RB - though perhaps Shaw was less encouraged by the run game over the final four games than I had thought.
