What a blast.  Any internet prediction curse missed Mick.  Or maybe the team was just too good.

The team was too good.  The talent on Stanford\'s team is ridiculous.  Equivalent of a football team composed of four and five star talent.

Here\'s what their starters were coming out of high school:

Spencer McLachlin; 2007 National High school player of the year and co captain of youth national team, along with Kawika Shoji.  Kawika\'s brother, Erik Shoji was the best libero recruit of the  class of 2008 (three diff tourneys), 4 time all Hawaii first team.  Brad Lawson was the captain of the "Fab 50" and the nation’s top recruit of 2008.  Gus Ellis was considered the top middle blocker of 2008.  And the other middle, Garrett Werner was merely on the A2 team (2nd team all America).  Both Shojis were coached by their father, the coach for the University of Hawaii women\'s volleyball team for many years.

And Evan Romero?  The team leader in kills started volleyball late (frosh year in high school) but caught up quickly.
