At some point though you have to send them off in a 1996 Toyota Corolla and just hope for the best.

Nine years ago, my 16 year old just received his driver's license and his 12 year old brother idolized him and jumped into the reasonably-safe 1989 Acura Legend we'd procured for his first car.  As the two of them drove off (around a few blocks), I told Mrs. Mick, "there goes the whole gene pool."
