I've looked at the sample exam the College Board has released for the revised SAT, beginning next year.  The verbal section was all, essentially, reading comprehension and text analysis.  (Read a passage, answer the following 2-3 questions based on that passage).  Teaching abroad, in China, this is seen as making the exam more challenging for foreign students. 

That may be true. One of the sections required choosing one of five methods of stating a portion of a sentence. Some of those options didn't even sound like anything a native speaker would say.
