8 teams is just the rational number, imo. Any one of the top 8 teams could rightly win the championship in a playoff format, imo. We have to decide, as the college football community, if the point is truly to crown the best team in FBS football or to punish teams who slipped up along the way. We lost to Northwestern, sure. But does anyone really think Northwestern is better than us? Or that Portland State is better than Washington State? Or that Arkansas is better than Ole Miss, who is better than Alabama?
