OK, but how does that make college football any better?

Because, as a far, I want to see a larger number of important and evenly matched games, and I want the sport to crown a champion in a way that makes any semblance of sense. Seriously, is there any other team sport anywhere in the world where making the end-of-season tournament comes down to a beauty pageant with no set rules? Why are we okay with this in college football but literally nowhere else?
