No, no surprise, except that Iowa fans are snapping up Rose Bowl tickets at a greater pace than, say Alabama and MSU fans are nabbing Cotton Bowl tickets.
Nor is it necessarily a bad thing. While I obviously would want as many fans in cardinal and white as possible, I do think that having excited fans out there, even if they are rooting for the other team, makes the Rose Bowl special. The two Rose Bowls I went to were both super exciting and great events. Obviously, the first time we went in a while was awesome, and it was great to have a dominant Stanford section. The MSU game was no less fun, even though MSU fans probably outnumbered Stanford fans 2:1. I think there is something about the Rose Bowl and electrified fan bases that just makes it a great experience. I expect this year to be so again, even if it is being driven by Iowa fans.
