So yes, the F Stanford award is a joke, chosen by men who played football and others who comment on the sport and who, despite all of that, still don't fully understand it

+1000.  Great post.  Throw in a little anti-western, anti-Stanford bigotry.  I don't think most football writers understand football.  They can repeat what a coach or player says, they can write down the stats that are provided to them, but apart from that, there is little to distinguish them from the average boob on the couch.
