No! Each "inning" the team that plays Offense first gets to pick the end. Stanford wanted to go away from the SC Students and the Band. Normally that would mean the home team would want to go to the SC Students and the Band.
Ironically, SC also wanted to go to the Closed end. So both teams elected to play in the same end when given the option.
Put it a different way...When it is really crunch time, even the SC staff avoids their annoying and repetitive band. ;)
