Tara had a nice defensive game plan in that game, but nothing effective on offense. It took too long for Stanford to realize that Nneka could score on Griner by going right at her and using the rim to protect her shots from being blocked, despite Griner's big height and reach advantage. It's still fun watching the two of them battle in their WNBA games.
I remember in the first half of that game, the offensive strategy was to bring Griner away from the paint into the high post with one of the Ogwumikes and then another player, the other sister usually, but Kokenis on one play, could come around on a backdoor cut and get a better look at the basket. We scored on several successive possessions with that strategy.

Not winning a title should not diminish the incredible accomplishment of reaching 7 out of the last 10 Final Fours, but it is very frustrating not to seal the deal when we get there, especially when we were in winnable situations on a number of occasions.
Of course, in the best of both worlds, we would get there numerous times and win it in a majority of times, a la UConn, but is our history preferable to a school like Texas A&M, who only has 1 FF appearance in the last 10, but made the most of it by winning it all in 2011?
I think it is, by keeping our name in the national spotlight, which hopefully will help on the recruiting trail and you hope that the law of averages will win out and we can capture one sooner than later.
