Interesting thing about Gavin is that he is generally not considered to be a particularly high draft pick. As far as I can tell no better than the third pitching prospect on Fullerton behind Conner Seabold (their Friday starter who won game #1) and Eastman. Possibly fourth behind Conine, their closer.
Gavin will get drafted - he's a brobdingnagian  large left hander with good stats, and was drafted in the 39th round out of high school. But, he's been particularly effective against us, and steadily improving.
His career versus Stanford is:
2015 - start game #3, 5.1 innings, 3 earned runs, 6 hits, 2 walks
2016 - start game #2, 6.0 innings, 2 earned runs, 6 hits, 1 walk
2017 - start game #2, 6.0 innings, 1 earned run, 2 hits, 2 walks
2017 - regn'l game #2, 7.0 innings, 1 earned run, 3 hits, 2 walks

I remember back in the 80s and early 90s, the Pac-12 routinely sent 3-4 teams to the CWS annually in both baseball and softball. WTF has happened?
Hard to say about Fullerton.
They were ranked as high as #17 in the polls, which could make them as strong as the best #2 seed. I believe they were universally ranked in the top 25 in polls.
However, their RPI was only #43, which by itself would make them a #3 seed. Fullerton was one of the teams hit hardest by the anti-western RPI bias.
Fullerton's big undoing was dropping 5 of 6 to Long Beach (who is playing a final, winner take all game vs Texas in their own regional today - winner faces Fullerton). Those were all close games, but they dropped them.
The two things that made Fullerton particularly dangerous is first that they certainly know us well - we play every year, and secondly that they were just getting Colton Eastman back, the pitcher who beat us in the final game. He was considered the top propsect on the team, though just a soph (as Bobbk noted). In our series against Fullerton to start the year he got the save in game #1 and started game #3 giving up one run. He got pulled after starting game #2 of their next series, and was just coming back at the end of the season - going 2.1 innings, 3.1 innings, 4.2 innings then 6.2 innings against us.Â
The Fullerton fans were very concerned that their pitching staff, while good, is not deep. Getting Eastman back was important for them.
It seems likely that Fullerton right now is among the best 2 seeds, but baseball is funny. It seems as likely as anything that they will face off against Long Beach next and continue their season-long frustrations against that team.

The Pac 8/10/12 has never had four teams in the CWS. Once (in 1988, when we won it all) the Pac had three teams in the CWS. Overall, over many years it looks like the Pac has averaged about 1 team in the CWS per year.
