While I would quibble with your details, it doesn't matter. One notable frosh contributor per year does not justify Connelly's statement that for 2017 itself, the average quality of the 2017 recruiting class indicates that Stanford "is bringing in an even higher caliber of replacement."
It may indicate that in the long term Stanford is doing just that - and we all hope so.
