Actually, Wilner writes good articles about the financial aspects of college athletics.  Everything from the Cal debt debacle to the P12Nets to the financial health of the various conferences, Wilner puts in the work, does the analysis and does a good job explaining news items at the intersection of business and sports.

Where he really struggles is on actually covering the sport.  It's almost as if he was a business reporter who drew the sports beat.
