The latest depth chart is still more musical OL. Now it's:
RT:Â Hall - Sarell
RG: Herbig - Wilson
C:Â Burkett - Chaffin
LG: Bright - Fanaika
LT: Little - Hamilton
Now Hamilton is the backup LT, after being the starting RT and backup RT already this season. Given how limited we know Hall is, the writing on the wall is that this is going to end up exactly how many of us predicted before the season: Little will start at LT and Sarell at RT by mid-season.
I just don't know how it made any sense to:
- Play Sarell at LT and Hall at RT against Rice, when now they are flip-flopped.
- Do anything other than start Little and Sarell from the jump.
Yes, starting two True Frosh OTs is basically unheard of in college football, but if they have the talent - and more importantly - the other options just aren't that good, why the hell not? We all know Hall struggled mightily in 2016. And Dave Bright was always a Guard masquerading as a Tackle. Hamilton is also a young guy, who hasn't had any more PT than Hall or Sarell, so the three best OT options are all True or RS Frosh. That maybe isn't ideal, but it's the reality, so if Little and Sarell can be better than all of them, that's who who'll play.
I'm as down on Chryst and want to see Costello as much as anyone, but it must be acknowledged that though it sure doesn't seem to be impacting Bryce Love, all this OL shuffling could be having an impact on Chryst, and the passing game.
