Wags are suggesting it was the most exciting part of what was ultimately a pretty one-sided game.

Wonder where it came from? I've spent a lot of time on the Stanford campus and don't ever recall seeing a rabbit. Could someone have brought it and released it?

Just a couple of weeks ago I saw a large jackrabbit--could have been this one's sibling-- between Sand Hill Road and the golf course up near Stock Farm road.  The real question is how did it get inside?  I presume it had some help, and if so, that was a cruel thing to do.  I wonder, for example, what kind of shape that rabbit was in when it was removed, and where it was deposited.
