Very sorry to hear about Dwight's challenges. I worked for the 49ers in high school at their Rocklin summer training camps. "The Catch" was my first ever pro football game. My Mom and I had been bussed down from Rocklin with the other Sierra College employees for the game and we were all sitting in that end zone. What a great game!Â
I actually ran into Dwight in Menlo Park in the mid-90's as he was living nearby before he moved to Cleveland with Carmen Policy. He was very nice and humble and remembered me from Summer Training Camps. I hope he plateaus, per the comments in the article. He truly had a knack for finding open space and he, Freddy and "Skeets" were quite the receiving trio, later to be joined by another great guy - Jerry Rice. The 49ers were very good back then - not so much anymore, but I've stopped watching the NFL over the years. Stanford is much more fun!
