Not sure a strictly rational approach is the best filter here.  There probably are a measurable cohort who dropped their cable package in an emotional response to the growing confluence of sports and politics.

For some groups I've found using an emotional lens is a better predictor of behavior than a rational, enlightened self interest approach.  Crazy times.
