Help me understand why the elimination of the state tax deduction is off topic. Won't schools in high tax states have to pay even more to entice coaches? A million dollar salary won't be worth the same in CA as it is in FL or TX.

Well, that's already true, the differential would be 38% (or whatever, I'm not in the top bracket) bigger than before.
