Hmmm... This is my exact configuration, Safari 11.1 on MacOS 10.13.4, and I'm not having issues.

I don't usually use safari, but my primary desktop is a MacOS 10.13.4, and I just tested it with Safari 11.1 and it worked fine. Check and see if you have add-ons or aggressive cookie controls? I have many of those extensions added to other browsers and some user-sign-in websites don't play well with them.
