It just means that you appear to other users to be "offline" even when you're actually "online." To activate this feature, all you need to do is open your User CP (the green button at the top of The Cardboard), click on "Edit Options" in the left-hand menu, check the box at the top that says "Hide me from the Who's Online list," and finally click the "Update Options" button at the bottom of the page.
