The men's NCAA regional golf field was announced this morning. Stanford gets to stay close to home, as the third best ranked (#13 overall) in the Stockton regional. The top ranked teams in the region are LSU (#6 overall) and Alabama (#7 overall). USC, Oregon and Colorado are also in Stockton. Ranking doesn't really matter once the regional field is set, as the format is aggregate stroke play score, with 4 out of 5 players counting each round. The 5 teams with the best cumulative score advance to the NCAAs. Regionals are from May 14-16. I wouldn't expect Coach Ray to reveal his 5 players until whatever the deadline is, although you can bet that 3 of them will be Swegle, Huang and Wu.
