1, 9 and 18 are par 5s. Which means that long stretches of the course are grind-it-out par 3s and 4s. This course is going to be a mental challenge as much as anything.

But I am concerned that the golf course is too long for some of the Stanford players. It may play better for long hitting teams like U.SC.  But Stanford does not have to win the stroke play part of the competition, just be top 8.

The most offensive part of Karsten Creek to me is the green fee for unaccompanied guests - $350! That is a high end resort rate. I wonder how much outside play the course actually gets. Maybe the wealthy alumni members pay enough to keep the course in the black.
