We were almost certain to lose strokes to par on our 14th and 15th holes. They're the toughest back-to-backs on the course. You want to avoid casualties on that hole and pick up at least a stroke on 18, the third "easiest" hole.
We scored well. Third best round of the day, only UCLA and Alabama broke par, six of the twelve teams that went out early are in double figures over par. We should be in 8th-11th at day's end and in great shape to easily make the 15 team cut. We keep playing this and only UCLA has a clear edge. Thanks to Bethany Wu's reacquaintance with pars and birdies, the Bruins are looking scary.
Of the afternoon group just out, Kent State is a legit team and has been here before--last year. But all of these afternoon teams are going to come back to us and several will quickly disappear behind us on the leader board.
