However, Stanford had no margin for error (overall score & 5th player back-up) for 4 days in a row.   That's got to be mentally draining.   And since golf is really a mental game, that 4 day grind might be too much.

That's not entirely right.  We made the cut pretty comfortably, and made the final round by a fair margin.  My memory might be a bit off on this, but I seem to recall that after round 2 we were already within the top-15 and after round 3 we were within the top 8.  I won't say it was not stressful, but we had a few shots to spare every day.

Today, though, is a different story.

Comfortable margin looked better with 2 birdies on 18 to wrap up Day 4.   Even if last two players posted a combined 3 over par instead of 2 under par, Stanford would have had to go to that tie breaker too.   As once again the 5th best score was too high to keep Stanford in the mix.   Two double bogeys on 18?....eliminated!

I am not sure comfortable applies there given the number of high scores on that course, but sure at the very end of day #4 it looked like Stanford would make the cut as long as no one posted a snowman.

Doesn't matter too much at this point.   UofA is showing that they are in better form this afternoon.
