We lost 2 Coaches to ASU and yes it will hurt. Danny Gonzales and Tony White. Both were keys on the defensive side of the ball. White Coached the D back and Corners.
I just heard an interview with Rocky on these losses. He mentioned the continuity as the biggest problem. The players were used to the coaches we lost. And it takes time to get used to the new coaches. That will be an early season problem for us.
I will say this about the defense. Although the loss of Gonzales and White will hurt, the Defensive Coordinator who runs our defense is actually Rocky Long. Its Rockys 3-3-5 defense and he runs all parts of it in the end.

When Hoke went to Michigan, Long was promoted to HC. The defense is Rocky's baby and he has developed DCs to take on the day to day details, maybe even the game day play calls. I'd expect SDSU will be using the same defense; employing lots of linebackers as hybrid Dlinemen or hybrid LB/safeties; lots of different fronts and effective blitzing for both run and pass situations.
Correct Uncle. Nothing much will change with the D.
