I'm going for the third time and am taking the train for the first time. I'm not sure it was an option the last two times I went (in the 90s).

Both of the previous times I drove or rode and it was a royal PITA even with planning to arrive 2-3 hours ahead of time to tailgate - South Bend's infrastructure is poorly designed to handle the volume of cars even that long before the game.

I'm also a bit older now and with the later kick I wouldn't want to be driving back to Chicago for 3 hours starting at 10pm Central time.
