The two stadiums in Glendale and Tempe are 26 miles apart. I don't think that there would have been much effect on traffic around Sun Devil Stadium from a game played that far away.
My recommendation to anyone going to a game at Sun Devil Stadium in the future - take the light rail. Cheap, fast and easy. Same advice to anyone going to the Coliseum in LA.
