Well, Coug fan... until someone who knows more actual facts, I'll offer this.
I live far, far away but have been blessed to see four games this year. My impressions:
How easy will it be to pickup a ticket outside the stadium?
I wasn't interested but at each game there seemed to be people walking around kinda mumbling to passers-by that they had tickets to sell.
What's the traffic going to be like after the game, heading to San Jose, or north to Oregon? Will traffic be congested getting out of Palo Alto or around Stanford Stadium after the game? Yes, but that is more a function of being in one of the most car-dependent metro areas in the U.S. So the freeways will be congested...or flowing relatively free. You never know from morning rush hour to later in the evening. Getting off campus and to those freeways seemed organized & to take a reasonable time.
What are some key sites to see and visit on campus Saturday morning or afternoon? I saw in passing the place where, too many decades ago,I had my first full-carnal experience. It's now a sorority. How ironic is that?
Is there large place where everyone gathers for food and drinks, prior to kickoff? Whole place is large place. One of the great things about having a gigantic campus with urban forest and open areas and extensive (urban) forest cover. Lots of Stanford and opponent-de-jour tailgaters all over the place, existing in harmony. If you mean commercial establishments, someone else will have to chime in.
