It is also possible that winning a conference title may give WSU the nod over a team with one loss and no conference title. WSU really needs ND to get beat. If they don't, WSU is toast. While there may be some chaos in the B1G and/or the Big-12, there is no way that both of them have a two loss champion. A one-loss WSU that plays a conference championship game and wins it has a good argument against a ND team with one loss who will have played nobody, since USC and Stanford no deliver no style points. WSU will have had an easy schedule, but so has ND. The extra game may be the lever. It is a very long shot however.(10-30-2018, 07:56 PM)winflop Wrote:(10-30-2018, 07:32 PM)81alum Wrote: So, are the odds of WSU winning out and going to the BCS lower than the odds of them losing twice more?
I take it from the posts above that absolutely nobody thinks that it is possible that a 1 loss Pac 12 champion would make the BCS. Because if WSU did, then there might be other pathways for us to get to the Rose Bowl, probably involving Utah losing another game and us winning out.
Depends on who that one loss team is, who they lost to, and who they played both in and especially out of conference.
WSU lost to U$C who does not look very strong, played 3 creampuff OOC games, and does not play Utah unless they make the CCG. Not likely.
When Stanford was 4-1 it was a different story. The loss was to undefeated UFDG, SDSU was a decent OOC game (better than any of WSU's opponents), and they would have beaten Utah to remain a 1-loss team (maybe twice)
At this point I don't think there's a snowball's chance in Hell of any Pac-12 team making the playoff
WSU is currently 10th in the playoff rankings. So, they basically need to win out and hope that 6 teams ahead of them lose.
