I'm told the money difference was less than you outline, and the situation appears to have a little softball parent type issue presented/bought by Bernie.

not sure if Shaw weighed in or not on head trainer.  he said "it was beyond his pay grade."  

as you may recall, some alums stepped forward when Bernie/Shaw didn't on Turley retention a year+ or so ago.  Turley has the most sustained engagement with the players year-long and would have been a big loss.  former players I know have a much tighter bond with Turley than other staff.
