I don't have a problem with playing the long game in terms of media rights and distribution. If the Pac-12 can distribute its own content while the forced subscription cable TV bundling model dies out, the Pac-12 will be positioned very well relative to other conferences.
The expenses don't bother me much because the "CEOs" as they are called, can cut them at their will. If the schools thought they needed that money more than building their own broadcast network, ultimately with its own distribution, they absolutely would take it.
