At least the B1G has come around, so the Pac-12, Big 12, and B1G, all play nine conference games, and not Chattanooga in November.

Think Stanford would have gone to a playoff in 2013 (if there was one), had they played and beat UC Davis instead of losing to USC 20-17 in November when ranked #4?

This using the rankings as self-fulfilling prophecy to justify every decision, when the teams aren't playing equivalent schedules, make it way too subjective.
