Out of curiosity, I counted frames to get the timing of the very high dig by Jenna Gray (2nd set, 14-10). 181 frames (60fps, as TiVo records it) = 3.0 seconds.
That translates to a vertical height of 36' (+ 5' or so for the height it was dug at) and a vertical velocity of 33mph.
As accurately described on the broadcast, the ball was above the top of the scoreboard. I don't know what the ruling would be if it landed on top without coming down.
I also realized that the ball is probably not visible to the opposing players.
